Some Ways Designers Can Use AI

AI can become a powerful design assistant when it's used to accelerate thinking rather than replace it.
Research and brainstorming
Use AI to explore potential user problems, generate interview questions, organize research findings, and challenge your initial assumptions.
Content creation
AI can help create placeholder copy, product descriptions, error messages, onboarding content, and multiple versions of headlines.
Visual exploration
Designers can use generative tools to explore art direction, moodboards, illustrations, and image concepts before committing to a final visual direction.
UX critique
AI can provide another perspective on navigation, hierarchy, accessibility, and usability. Treat its feedback as input—not as the final decision.
Prototyping and development
AI coding tools can help designers turn simple concepts into working prototypes, experiment with interactions, and understand how their ideas might behave in a real product.
The goal isn't to let AI design everything for you. Use it to remove repetitive work, explore more possibilities, and spend more time on the decisions that require creativity and judgment.
